IBM 2015 Roadmap and Succes

IBM in its great and vast glory is preparing for a prosperous future!  With record earnings, high customer and employee support of its Smarter Planet initives, IBM is here to stay!

Here is the link to the 2012 Annual Report!

Have you taken a risk lately?

Here is a video of IBM's CEO - Ginni Rometty!  Here she talks about taking risks, and how important it is to step outside of your comfort zone in all that you do!  I can't wait to work towards a common goal with her as my leader!

She is the first female CEO of IBM - this is a major step and risk that she had to overcome and prove that she is the best fit in a male dominated industry!

OVERCOMING ADVERSITY - at its finest!

SCANA Data-Center Tour!

On Friday April 19th - I enjoyed a tour of the new SCANA Data-center in West Columbia. This was an exciting opportunity as that I am the one who initiated contact with the host (Jim McFarland - data-center manager) through LinkedIN as a result of his presentation on SCANA to the Internship Seminar class.

The tour was very interactive as Jim loves his profession and sought ideas and questions from the tour group. He showed the Control Room for the Data Center when it was staffed with 3 workers, one of which whom used to work for IBM. He taught about how IT helps delivers SCANA's core goals and values to it's employees and their customers - everything from call center management, network analytics to bill printing. From there he showed the data center with all of it's mainframe glory. He talked about how EVERYTHING has redundancy and how important it was in IT. From the data-center he then showed the bill printing machines and their giant rolls of paper, the generators, and some of the employee common areas - the gym was awesome.

This was a great beginning to my busy Friday!

SCANA is a corporation that has many opportunities and I may be interested in apply when I complete my Summer Internship with IBM!

IBM Presentation

Today we had an exciting presentation from Angelo Reid - Technology Sales Manager - of IBM. He suggested to the class a lot of great information about what IBM stands for and what they look for in its employees.

He made many valuable suggestions in regards to resume skills, interpersonal skills and impressions of your person.

Angelo was my first interviewer when I applied for my internship back in November and that experience alone has given me a lot of insight about professionalism and what it takes and means to be an IBM'er.

All in all, Miss McCutcheon's Internship Seminar class this semester has been a great experience and I offered a welcoming ear to all of the presenters and their valuable information.

Edens!

Today for our internship seminar class, we had a presentation from Edens! They are are retail development agency that started in Columbia SC.

They talked about various opportunities for internships and jobs.

I learned a lot about the company and I was surprised that they have a big emphasis on social media and social marketing.

More to come!...
